It hurts

15Feb08

First DayI can’t live his life for him, I can’t take away his pain. He needs to work through things for himself, even when he is this small. School is where we learn a lot about life, and some of the tough things it throws us. For some, those school-yard life-lessons are the toughest of all. I can’t make people like him, I can nowhere near stop his pain. Yesterday, I got the news he is hitting out in frustration at other kids. And all I can do is guide him, support him, and let him know each and every day I am here for him. Oh how I love him.

Wouldn’t it be nice if we could take away the things we deem harmful to our children.

That’s all you can do. Be there. Let him know you love him. Let him know you are there for him. The rest he has to do.

    I know. Not easy.

Yes. Great words - wise and moving.

Myself and another blogger were talking just last week about our experiences with bullying when we were kids. Then a bunch of people joined in, as seems almost everyone has had their experiences with that.

As parents we guide, sometimes we’re even able to remove obstacles. But when it comes down to it, like we did, they have to walk the path on their own, no matter how much it grieves us to watch.

I know - I’m late, but you got me with this one mate… on account of me having these two little people in my house - and me living with those same worries and wants!

Does it build with time lp - the anxiety??? Cos I try to even it out whenver I can - but man… sometimes the head runs away with my heart - and I fear for my boys in that big scary place called a schoolyard.

    *sighhh*
