Traces
17Jan08
In the bush I walked through and around traces of men. I felt the sturdiness of that other time, a time before disposable, when things were built to last, ostensibly forever.
Oxidise and erode, seep nutrients into the bush, as she opens mouth in silence and clamps hands to face. Time, time and still more time.
And when the apes land and cast their simian gaze to where the minerals are deep within the crust, they will note the traces of that other time. And they will hoot and chatter, and shake their primate skulls in awe of the tenacity of these inanimate objects.

It shouldn’t, but somehow everything fits (even the cars & tank) against the landscape. As if they are in their rightful places.
that second photograph sure makes an impact.
Why are you blushing? I’m the one now blushing!
this looks like my first car, although mine had a little more rust.
I agree with Lisa Y…. everything looks strangely organic.
Lisa Y: yes, they did seem minor remnants that blended into the environment.
amuirin: it does.
lolostve: maybe I meant I was flushed
Rich: strange but right.
i like these pictures. they are good. as are the words. it is all good. yes.
So nicely done LP… Mankind uses iron and steel to make it’s mark on the natural world - hoping for a false sense of longevity!
Ha - cos it all returns to the earth eventually eh… slowly but surely!
Love how you’ve brought the colours out mate - great job!!! I can’t imagine our Aussie scrub with out a dash of rust red splashed through it… it just ‘wouldn’t be cricket’!
sometimes I feel just like that car in the morning…
like a well worn couch.
maybe
or hot and bothered…
well it is summer down under right?
Yes, and it is hot and sticky
my favourite kind, mmm!

Oh my, I was just going to comment on the purty pictures, but I believe I have stumbled into some major flirtage . . . please, continue. I’ll just sit here and watch.
I’m not responsible, HE posted that photo.
