Boat fantasies

“What about that one?”
“Nah.”
“But it’s big enough, and look how happy the people on her are!”
“Past performance is no guarantee of future success.”
“God you’re annoying!”
“God you’re simplistic…’Mmm people happy, boat good.’”
“I don’t think I want to buy a boat with you!”
“Fine by me!”
“Ohhhhhhh shut up!…What about that one?”


For what seemed like the longest time, the morning light brought no comfort.
My path to happiness from within, was not so much long, as littered with distraction and false-happiness. I dallied for almost a year with one diversion. But I finally recognised him for the by-catch he was and threw him back.

The first boy I loved, he broke my heart in front of an audience and got off on my hurt. He’s a family law lawyer now…and fat, and balding.
For me, love comes easily, but as for maintaining it…my track record shows I’m just not very good at relationships.
If only life was all sea-pools and beaches.

On a bleak winter day, the fence was already high, but I added to it.
“Now no-one can get in, no-one, never again,” I thought foolishly to myself. Because then the sun came out, and with as little as that, I started work on a gate.
